I was born in 1957 in Ireland, emigrating a year later to Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) with my family. I attended the Bulawayo Technikon, graduating in 1978 with a National Diploma in Applied Art and Design, having specialised in Graphic and Textile Design.
I was a member of Jeanette Gilks' Garret Artist Drawing group for 20 years.
I was a South African finalist in the Winsor & Newton 2000 Millennium competition, a worldwide show.My work was also selected for the Umvubelo Women’s Day exhibition at the Durban Art Gallery, which travelled South Africa. My work on the Jabulisa 2006 exhibition was purchased by the Margate Art Museum for its permanent collection.
My first solo exhibition “Belle of the Ball” was held at artspace Durban in 2006. In 2009 I exhibited at Kizo Gallery, Durban, and Bamboo Gallery, Johannesburg, in “Scratching Surfaces” and at KZNSA Durban in “Mine”, an exhibition of work done during the Professional Practice Course.
“My work is concerned with mark making, using mixed media such as graphite, lino prints, aquarelle crayon and ink washes. I enjoy exploring the element of chance with the methods used in my work, adding new meanings with each layer.”
